Prenuptial Agreements Singapore

A prenuptial agreement ("prenup") is a written contract entered into by two people before they are to be married. It would typically list all of the assets & property held by each of the parties.

 Who Needs a Prenup?

We often hear of such agreements only when rich people marry, prenups are not just for the rich and famous. While prenups are generally used to protect assets, ordinary couples are increasingly turning to them for their own purposes.

  • Pass separate property to children from a previous marriage
  • Dictate what will happen to their property when they die, so that they can pass on separate property to their children and still provide for each other
  • Clarify financial rights. Childless couples with or without children, may simply want to clarify their financial rights and responsibilities during marriage.
  • Avoid arguments down the track in case the couple wish to dissolve their marriage.
  • Get protection from previous debts.
